Northern Cornbread
This is a great northern cornbread recipe- it has just a hint of sweetness. It’s great served alongside ham & beans or chili.

Makes: A 10×15 pan

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups cornmeal
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°. Grease a 10×15 pan and set aside.
- Melt the butter then stir the sugar into the hot, melted butter.
- Quickly add the eggs and beat until well blended.
- Measure out the buttermilk and add the baking soda to it. Then pour the buttermilk/baking soda mixture into the butter micture and combine.
- In another bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, and salt and mix until well blended.
- Add to the wet ingredietns and stir until few lumps remain.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toohtpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
