Ingredients

  • 3 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar (more or less to taste)
  • 1 ½ Tbsp cornstarch (dissolved in 3 Tbsp of cold water)

Instructions:

  • Combine the blueberries, water, and sugar in a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until the mixture comes to a low boil and the blueberries just start to break apart.
  • In a cup, dissolve the cornstarch in 3 Tbsp of cold water.
  • Stirring constantly, slowly pour the dissolved cornstarch into the blueberry mixture and bring to a rolling boil.
  • Turn the heat down and simmer on low heat for 2-3 minutes or until the sauce begins to thicken.
  • Remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes:

Make Ahead: It works well to make this ahead of time and reheat it. If the sauce gets too thick, add more water 1 Tbsp at a time.
  • You can substitute any type of fruit, just add sugar to taste.
