- ½ medium onion (chopped)
- ⅓ lb celery (chopped (1 1/2 cups))
- 3 ½ lb stew meat (in 1-inch chunks)
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 ½ tsp parsley flakes
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ¾ tsp black pepper
- ¾ tsp garlic powder
- 1 dash hot sauce (Frank's)
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ¼ tsp beef base (beef boullion)
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch
Braised Beef:
In a large dutch oven (or kettle) over med/high heat, melt butter.
When hot, add the meat in one layer and braise until browned on all sides.
Add all the remaining ingredient except for the cornstarch, cover with a lid, and simmer for 1 1/2-2 hours.
When the meat is tender, combine the cornstarch in a cup with a little cold water and stir until dissolved. Pour into the pan with the meat and allow to simmer until cornstarch is cooked.
Make Ahead: This is really good if it's allowed to simmer for a few hours before serving.
