Sugar Cream Pie

Ingredients  

  • 1 pie crust
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 2 ½ cups milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt
  • cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions: 

  • Before you start the pie, make and bake the crust. Here is my pie crust recipe.
  • While the crust is cooling, make the filling.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt together the butter, sugar, and cornstarch.
  • Once melted, add the milk, vanilla, and salt.
  • Stir and cook until thick.
  • Once thickened, pour the filling into the cooled pie crust and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Notes:

Make Ahead: You can easily make the crust ahead of time. The pie is also good cool. The crust may get soggy if you make it a couple days before eating.
