Lemon Sauce

Ingredients  

  • 1 ¼ cups water (boiling)
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 dash salt
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch (dissolved in 1/4 cup of cold water)
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Instructions: 

  • In a saucepan, bring 1 1/4 cups of water to a boil.
  • Add the sugar and salt and stir until dissolved.
  • In a cup, dissolve the cornstarch in 1/4 cup cold water.
  • Stirring constantly, pour the cornstarch mixture into the boiling mixture.
  • Cook until thick and clear then remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice and butter.
  • Serve warm.

Notes:

*Lime juice works well if you don't have lemon juice on hand.
Make ahead: it works really well to make this ahead of time and warm it just before serving.
