Sugar Cream Pie is the signature Indiana dessert.

Ingredients
- 1 pie crust
- ½ cup butter (1 stick)
- ¾ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 2 ½ cups milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp salt
- cinnamon (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Before you start the pie, make and bake the crust. Here is my pie crust recipe.
- While the crust is cooling, make the filling.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt together the butter, sugar, and cornstarch.
- Once melted, add the milk, vanilla, and salt.
- Stir and cook until thick.
- Once thickened, pour the filling into the cooled pie crust and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Notes:
Make Ahead: You can easily make the crust ahead of time. The pie is also good cool. The crust may get soggy if you make it a couple days before eating.
