Sloppy Joes
Sloppy Joes are super easy to throw together and can be made ahead and kept warm in the crockpot.

Ingredients
- 2 lb ground beef
- ½ medium onion (diced)
- ½ medium green pepper (diced)
- 1 tsp garlic salt (more or less to taste)
- 2 tsp black pepper (more or less to taste)
- 1 Tbsp yellow mustard
- 2 ½ cups ketchup
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- ¼ cup BBQ sauce
Instructions:
- Dice the onion and pepper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and green pepper. Season with garlic salt and pepper while cooking.
- Drain off the excess grease.
- Stir in the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly – adjust the amounts as necessary.
- Reduce heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes.
Notes:
This recipe is very versatile – add and subtract any seasonings or sauces you want.
Make Ahead: This is a great recipe to make ahead. You can prepare the sloppy joes then dump it all in a crockpot on low for a few hours (if it looks like it’s drying out, just add some more mustard, ketchup, and barbecue sauce.)
Freeze: You can also cook this up then let it cool and freeze it in air-tight containers. To use, just thaw and reheat.
