Sweet & Sour Sauce

This is a great sauce to serve with egg rolls or anything Oriental.

Ingredients  

  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce (*Not all soy sauces are gluten free*)
  • ¼ tsp garlic salt
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • cup pineapple juice

Instructions: 

  • In a saucepan, combine all the ingredients EXCEPT for the cornstarch and pineapple juice.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • In a cup, combine the cornstarch and pineapple juice.
  • When the mixture in the pan has come to a boil, stirring constantly, pour the cornstarch/juice mixture into the boiling mixture and cook until thickened.

Notes:

Make Ahead: You can easily make this ahead of time and reheat it before serving.
Microwave option: You can easily combine all the ingredients in a bowl and microwave in 1-2 minute increments until it thickens.
