Baked Whole Chicken
This is a generic recipe for whole baked chicken.
Baked Whole Chicken
Makes: A 4 1/2 lb chicken feeds 8 people with no leftovers. To be safe, I would plan on a 5lb chicken for 8 people.

Ingredients
- 5 lb whole chicken
- seasonings to taste (garlic salt, pepper, paprika, poultry seasoning…)
Instructions:
- This is a good guide for baking whole chicken.
- Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease a baking dish.
- Place the chicken in the prepared dish, breast up, and liberally season.
- Bake the chicken for the specified amount time (it depends on the size of the chicken).
- When the chicken gets close to 165°, remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10-15 minutes. *The chicken needs to get up to 165° before eating.
Notes:
If you bake the chicken with foil on, it will bake a bit quicker and hold in the moisture. If you bake it with foil, remove the foil for the last 15 minutes so the skin can become crisp and brown.
