Fun Meal and Dish Ideas
Sometimes it’s handy to have some fun meal or dish ideas up your sleeve. Here’s a compilation of fun dishes I’ve come across or made.
Main Dish:
- “Ice Cream Sundaes” (mashed potatoes & gravy)
- “Cupcakes” (meatballs) (The grease runs through the paper, so it works best to either make large meatballs then transfer to cupcake liners just before serving or to bake in liners and transfer to new liners just before serving.)
Sides & Snacks:
- “Candy” (baby carrots, tomatoes, grapes… wrapped in candy wrappers)
- “Cake Pops” (chocolate covered Brussels sprouts (3 oz of chocolate for 10 Brussels sprouts)
- Mice – (deviled eggs)
- Bugs – (veggies)
Desserts:
- “Tacos” – (fortune cookie dough, gingerbread crumbles, whipped cream, & strawberries) (her gingerbread recipe is a bit tough, but the other “taco” ingredients are good.)
- “Fried Chicken Legs” – (1 9×13 pan of rice krispies recipe makes 8 good sized legs.
Rolled in melted chocolate/peanut butter. Would be best to have lighter chocolate. Then rolled in crushed corn flakes.) - “Fried Eggs” – (On parchment melt a marshmallow at 30% power in 25 sec increments until melting. Use back of greased spoon to press into an egg shape. Continue melting until correct shape. Then cook a little longer to dry them out. Used melted sucker but could use colored marshmallow or….)
- “Bacon” – (cut Tootsie rolls and caramel into thin strips. Place 4 strips next to each other and roll out into a strip. Can heat for a few seconds in the microwave to mold together.)
