The sauce was thick when I poured it over the potatoes, but it turned into the perfect consistency and ratio when it baked. I assembled this ahead of time and put it in the fridge all day. I put the pan in the oven when I turned the oven on and it was heated in about 30 minutes. I left it in for a full 40 minutes. Between 2/3 and 3/4 cup sliced potatoes per person is the right amount.
