Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
This homemade version of mac & cheese is super creamy and cheesy!

- 1 8 oz box elbow macaroni noodles
- 4 Tbsp butter
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 dash black pepper
- 2 cups milk (could substitute some of it with 1/2 & 1/2 or cream)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (for a more authentice "Kraft" mac, use Velveeta or American cheese)
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
- Cook the elbow macaroni noodles in the boiling water, stirring occaisionally, until cooked through but slightly firm to the bite – about 8 mintues.
While the noodles are cooking, prepare the sauce:
- In a saucepan, combine the cold butter, flour, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Heat over low/medium heat and bring to a low boil, stirring constantly so it won't scorch.
- When the sauce comes to a boil, cook until smooth and beginning to thicken then add the cheese and any other seasonings to taste.
- When the noodles are cooked, drain them, dump them in a bowl, then pour the sauce over them, stir to coat, and serve!
